Vol. 384 No. 8

Written Answers. - Smoke Emission Level.

209.

asked the Minister for the Environment the level of smoke emission he estimates to occur from the different fuels on the domestic market under different combustion conditions, which formed the basis of the fuel designation for the smoke free zones.

The Special Control Area (Ballyfermot) Order, 1988, as confirmed by the Special Control Area (Ballyfermot) Order 1988 (Confirmation) Order, 1988 (S.I. No. 282 of 1988) specifies for use in the area cokes and anthracites which are known to be smokeless, authorised fuels and any other fuel provided it is burnt in an authorised fireplace. It was on the basis of the evidence presented at the oral hearing in relation to the Order and the inspector's report that I decided to make regulations authorising Bord na Mona peat briquettes and the CDL full burning fire for use in the area.
