Vol. 388 No. 9

Written Answers. - Milk Quota.

71.

asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food if he will urgently demand a major increase in Ireland's national milk quota from the European Commission in order to provide a reasonable standard of living for farmers who have very low quotas, that is under 15,000 gallons.

Throughout the council negotiations on this year's prices package, I have been seeking to have the quota situation of small scale producers and other special category producers improved, by means of an increase in Ireland's national quota. These negotiations are continuing at present.
