The necessary inquiries into an application for the provision of educational services in the Portumna area of County Galway for mentally handicapped pupils are in hands. The investigation is still at an early stage. Should it be decided that services were required in the area, it is unlikely that services would be available for September 1989. In view of the Deputy's interest, I will arrange to have him informed of developments.
