Vol. 389 No. 3

Written Answers. - Tallaght (County Dublin) Proposed Business Park.

58.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce the progress, if any, which has been made with the proposed business park for Tallaght, Dublin 24; when it is expected that actual job creation will commence for Tallaght; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

Considerable progress has already been made with the proposed business park for Tallaght.

The design of the site has been completed, and planning applications for the site development, for the 30,000 sq. ft. enterprise centre and for the 40,000 sq. ft. advance factory have been lodged with Dublin County Council. Construction work is expected to commence in June 1989.

There has been an ongoing effort to create new jobs and sustain existing jobs in Tallaght through existing IDA grant programmes. These efforts have now been intensified through the appointment of an IDA executive, Mr. Kevin McCarthy, who has been given special responsibility for marketing Tallaght.

The presence of the business park facilities in Tallaght will be of considerable assistance to the IDA in these intensified efforts to promote industrial development in Tallaght.
