asked the Minister for Education if she will withdraw her letter of 21 March 1989 to Kildare Vocational Education Committee which has the effect of withdrawing the special allocation of part time teaching hours for the adult literacy scheme from September 1989 and as a result the scheme cannot function; and if she will make a statement on the matter.

The Department's letter of 21 March 1989 to which the Deputy refers has been the subject of an appeal received from the adult education organiser of County Kildare VEC and this appeal is currently under consideration.
