The allocation for the recreational facilities scheme in 1989 is £2,311,000, which is the carryover of the unspent balance at 1 January 1989, of the £4 million allocated to the scheme in 1988.
The total number of applications received under the scheme in 1988 and 1989 is 920 and 304 with an approximate cost of £90 million and £26 million, respectively, in respect of proposed development works to be undertaken by the applicants.
Applications under the recreational facilities scheme will now fall to be considered under the new arrangements for the recreational facilities amenity grants scheme referred to by the Minister for Finance in his reply of 24 October 1989 to Questions Nos. 26, 48 and 55.
