asked the Minister for Education if she will ensure that the commitment given to allow a second teacher at Oatquarter National School, Inis Mór, Aran Islands, County Galway will be fulfilled; when clearance for the teacher's appointment will be issued; and if her attention has been drawn to the damage to morale among pupils and parents that has been created on the island as a result of the failure to appoint the teacher after expectations had been raised in this regard.

Following investigation of the school's appeal, my Department have sanctioned the appointment of a temporary teacher in the school until the end of the current school year. The board of management has been informed of this decision.
