Vol. 393 No. 3

Written Answers. - Tax Rebate.

84.

asked the Minister for Finance the reason for the delay in payment of a tax rebate to a person (details supplied) in County Louth; and when the rebate will be paid.

The Revenue Commissioners have advised me that the taxpayer's claim for repayment of income tax on the grounds of unemployment has been dealt with and a cheque in settlement for the total tax deducted, that is £209.81, will be issued to him within a week.

The claim for repayment of tax was submitted on 5 October 1989. Further documentation in connection with the claim was submitted on 10 October 1989. On that date the inspector of taxes asked the taxpayer's former employer to verify details of pay and tax deducted. The details were not verified until 13 November 1989, and it was not possible to authorise a repayment without this information.
