100.

asked the Minister for Justice, with reference to Parliamentary Question No. 114 of 7 November 1989, the reason persons (details supplied) from the Soviet Union have been refused visitors visas to enter the Republic of Ireland to visit their daughter; the law that was relied on in making this decision, having regard to the fact that it was stated that these visas were refused in accordance with law; and if, he will make a statement on the matter.

It has never been the practice to divulge the reasons for refusal of visas in particular cases for obvious reasons.

The law governing the entry of aliens is set out in The Aliens Act, 1935, and orders made thereunder.
