The Government have approved the seeking of offers from consortia for a design, finance, build and management contract for the National Sports Centre which is to be located on the site in the Custom House Docks area in Dublin.
The Government have also approved the establishment of six regional sports centres, including Sligo.
There are no proposals to provide a water sports centre at Carrick-on-Shannon.
