asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food if he will outline the amount of payments made under (1) the ewe premium scheme, (2) the special beef premium scheme, (3) the ewe hogget grant, (4) the suckler cow scheme, (5) the beef cow scheme and (6) the calf premium for the years 1985 to 1989, inclusive.
I propose to take Questions Nos. 91 and 93 together.
Figures for 1989 payments are not yet available. Payments made by my Department under the various EC premium schemes in the years 1985 to 1988 inclusive were as follows:

Recoupment in any year is based on expenditure in the previous year.
There is no separate grant for ewe hoggets but hoggets can qualify for grants under the sheep headage scheme which applies to all disadvantaged areas.
The beef cow scheme applies to the less severely handicapped areas and the cattle headage scheme applies to the more severely handicapped areas.
