Vol. 393 No. 8

Written Answers. - County Tipperary School Transport.

195.

andMr. Lowry asked the Minister for Education if school transport will be restored to Boherlahan National School from the Longfield, Nodstown, Lisbrook and Ballycamas areas of County Tipperary, in view of the original decision being based on incorrect information.

The school transport service referred to was recently reviewed and reorganised. The fact that there were more children eligible to avail of the service than had first been apparent did not materially affect the outcome.

I should explain that all school transport services are subject to regular review and re-organisation, in order to ensure that vehicles are utilised to the maximum efficiency, and that every eligible pupil has a reasonable standard of service from the standpoint of time-tabling and distance from the route. My Department are satisfied that the pupils of the Boherlahan national school have an adequate standard of service by reference to these criteria.
