Vol. 393 No. 8

Written Answers. - Meath Heritage Centre.

64.

asked the Taoiseach if there are any funds available for Meath Heritage Centre, High Street, Trim, County Meath from the arts and culture section of his Department having regard to the fact that the centre is at present putting together historical exhibitions and family histories; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

As I indicated to the House on 7 November 1989, detailed proposals on the development of a network of genealogical centres are being prepared by the Task Force on Roots, Genealogy and Tourism. An application for assistance from the Meath Heritage Centre in respect of the provision of genealogical services is being considered. Consultation with many groups and organisations both in the private and public sectors is now taking place and I understand the Task Force will make recommendations in the early months of 1990.
