I have no plans to re-establish local committees of agriculture.
As the Deputy is aware, county committees of agriculture established under the Agriculture Act, 1931, were dissolved under the Agriculture (Research, Training and Advice) Act, 1988. That Act also provides that Teagasc — The Agriculture and Food Development Authority — may establish committees to assist and advise it in relation to performing its functions and I understand that Teagasc is in the process of setting up such committee.
