Vol. 394 No. 1

Written Answers. - General Practitioners Pension Scheme.

187.

asked the Minister for Health if his Department has resolved the difficulties concerning the tax treatment of the pension scheme for general practitioners under their General Medical Service contract introduced in March 1989; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

The Revenue Commissioners were unable to accede to the request of the Irish Medical Organisation for approval of the proposals for a pension fund which they have prepared on the terms which have been sought by the organisation. My Department and the Department of Finance are in discussion and are anxious that the matter be resolved as quickly as possible.
