asked the Minister for Health the number and location of ambulances equipped with cardiac monitors and defibrillators; the number of ambulance personnel trained to use this equipment; and the location of such personnel.

Cardiac ambulances are being used by the Eastern Health Board on a pilot basis in the Dublin city and county area. The information requested by the Deputy is set out in the table hereunder:

I should point out that the monitor and defibrillator equipment is capable of being carried and used in all of the accident and emergency ambulance vehicles at the two bases shown above and can be swapped from vehicle to vehicle as required.
