I assume the Deputy is referring to the European Community (Indication of Prices of Foodstuffs) Regulations 1983 which require, inter alia, that the unit price per kilogram or per litre be given. Enforcement of the regulations is a matter for the Director of Consumer Affairs and Fair Trade who is independent in the performance of his functions.
The director has been active in this area.
