Vol. 394 No. 2

Written Answers. - Parking Offence.

87.

asked the Minister for Justice the circumstances in which a parking fine was imposed on a person (details supplied) in County Meath for parking on a double yellow line, having regard to the fact that his company stated that he was at work at the time and date in question and could not have committed the offence at the time and date stated; and if he will make a statement on the matter with a view to cancelling this fine.

It would not be appropriate for me to comment in detail on the circumstances of any individual prosecution or conviction. It is of course open to the person concerned in this case to pursue the question of an appeal to the courts. I am informed that, having regard to all the circumstances of this particular case, including the matters referred to by the Deputy, the Garda authorities will be in touch with the person concerned regarding an appeal.
