Vol. 394 No. 4

Written Answers. - Mortgage Subsidy Payments.

188.

asked the Minister for the Environment, in light of a recently reported case in which his Department conceded payment of a mortgage subsidy to a person whose application was submitted to his Department after the final acceptance date, if he will review the cases of the numerous new house purchasers to whom his Department refused to send mortgage subsidy application forms after the final acceptance date had passed; or whether it will be necessary for each individual person so affected to pursue his or her claim through the Ombudsman.

As indicted in the reply to Question No. 68 of 7 December, the report referred to was inaccurate and misleading. In the individual case concerned it was accepted that a valid application had been made before the closing date. Accordingly the question does not arise of any review of cases where an application for the mortgage subsidy had not been made before the closing date.
