Vol. 395 No. 3

Written Answers. - Dublin School Facilities.

Mervyn Taylor

Ceist:

173 Mr. Taylor asked the Minister for Education if she has received representations from St. Kilian's senior school, Castleview, Dublin 24 for the provision of a general purpose area; in view of the fact that this facility has been urgently needed in the school for many years and that an application therefore was made a long time ago, if she will grant approval for the construction; and if she will make a statement on the matter.

The school authorities of St. Kilian's senior national school, Castleview have applied for grant-aid to my Department towards the cost of the provision of a general purposes room and submitted proposals which were prepared by their architect in December 1989. The matter is being considered in my Department in the light of the current policy of giving priority to the provision of essential classroom accommodation at national schools. My Department's inspector has been asked for a report and when this is to hand a decision will be conveyed to the school authorities.
