Vol. 395 No. 4

Written Answers. - Gibraltar Killings.

Tony Gregory

Ceist:

46 Mr. Gregory asked the Minister for Foreign Affairs if the Government will pursue the killing of the three IRA members in Gibraltar before the European Court of Human Rights; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

Roger T. Garland

Ceist:

78 Mr. Garland asked the Minister for Foreign Affairs if it is his intention to take the matter of the Gibraltar Three to the European Court of Human Rights; and if he will make a statement on his intentions on this matter.

I propose to take together Questions Nos. 46 and 78.

The Government understand that further legal action in relation to the Gibraltar killings is in train in the Northern Ireland courts and are aware of the request from the families of the Three for the Government to bring a case to the European Court of Human Rights in Strasbourg. Such a course of action by the Government requires very careful consideration and the request by the families of the Three is currently being closely examined.
