Vol. 395 No. 6

Written Answers. - Dún Laoghaire Harbour Authority.

Eamon Gilmore

Ceist:

32 Mr. Gilmore asked the Minister for the Marine when he intends to introduce legislation to establish on a statutory basis, the Dún Laoghaire Harbour Authority, County Dublin; the interim arrangements which are being put in place to appoint a chief officer and a staff for the authority; the authority's budget; and the plans, if any, there are to provide for worker representation on the authority.

I have recently established an interim board to advise and assist me in the management of Dún Laoghaire Harbour. I will be seeking the views of the interim board on the statutory authority when they have had an opportunity to assess future requirements for Dún Laoghaire Harbour.

The interim board will be chaired by Professor Dermot McAleese and will have a secretary appointed from within my Department. I have appointed the Dún Laoghaire Harbour manager to the board.

An allocation of £1.535 million for Dún Laoghaire Harbour is provided for in my Department's Vote for 1990. While a budget has not been allocated directly to the board I will be seeking the advice of the board on the programme of expenditure at Dún Laoghaire Harbour.

Consideration will be given to the question of worker representation on any statutory Dún Laoghaire Harbour Board.
