Vol. 395 No. 9

Written Answers. - Insolvency Fund Rules.

Richard Bruton

Ceist:

48 Mr. R. Bruton asked the Minister for Labour whether he has received a claim under the insolvency fund rules from the administrator of the H. Williams pension fund; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

To date, my Department has received no claim under the Protection of Employees (Employers' Insolvency) Act, 1984, in respect of an occupational pension scheme in the H. Williams Group. It would be for the receiver of the company to submit such a claim.

My understanding is that a claim will be made under the 1984 Act in respect of the former H. Williams workers but I am not in a position to say when it will be submitted. All interests concerned have been made aware of the various requirements and entitlements under the 1984 Act and my Department are available to provide further information on these matters.

As the Deputy will appreciate, claims relating to pension fund contributions can be quite complex and can take some time to resolve. I can assure the Deputy, however, that when a claim is received in my Department it will be dealt with as quickly as possible.
