Vol. 396 No. 2

Written Answers. - Driving Tests.

John Browne

Ceist:

124 Mr. Browne (Carlow-Kilkenny) asked the Minister for the Environment the reason for the delay in holding driving tests in Carlow at present; and if he will arrange for extra staff to cope with the backlog.

The present waiting period for a driving test in the Carlow area is 29 weeks which is marginally better than the average waiting period for the country as a whole. The situation in Carlow, as in every other centre, will improve significantly when the additional driver testers, currently being recruited, have been trained and brought into the system.
