I introduced the social welfare diary for the first time in 1989. The diary contains useful references on social welfare services as well as the normal diary material in standard format. It is intended to help in the task of getting information to people on their social welfare entitlements and is made available widely to public representatives, community information centres, social workers and other organisations which provide such information. The diaries have proved most useful and have been the subject of much favourable comment.
The diary includes as standard material a considerable amount of general information, including maps of four cities, namely, Dublin, Cork, Limerick and Galway. The possibility of including additional material, for example additional maps, in the diary would be limited by space constraints but the Deputy's concern in this regard will be brought to the attention of the supplier.
