87 Mr. Cowen asked the Minister for Education if she will refund part of the sum of £4,000 to the board of management of a school (details supplied) in County Offaly in respect of an extension completed some time ago; and if she will make a statement on the matter.
The sum of £4,000 held by my Department in respect of the extension scheme at the national school in County Offaly referred to by the Deputy cannot be released until certain information concerning extras on the contract has been received from the school authorities and their consultants and defects in the mechanical installations have been made good. The Department's requirements in these matters have been fully explained to the school authorities. When these matters have been attended to the question of releasing the balance of the grant will be given full consideration.
