Vol. 396 No. 9
42 Mr. Garland asked the Minister for Foreign Affairs the proportion of bilateral aid funding which is being allocated to new projects, according to the latest figures available.
Under subhead C of the Vote for International Co-operation for 1990 there is a grant-in-aid fund of £10.250 million for bilateral and other aid. The other aid refers to an allocation of £650,000 for assistance to Poland and Hungary. The sum of £9.6 million is therefore available for development co-operation with developing countries generally recognised as such.
The estimate for new projects this year is £0.87 million or 9 per cent of the £9.6 million allocated to developing countries.
All of the amount allocated to Poland and Hungary is for new projects.
