Vol. 397 No. 2

Written Answers. - County Cork Storm Damage.

P. J. Sheehan

Ceist:

60 Mr. Sheehan asked the Minister for the Marine if his attention has been drawn to the serious damage caused by the recent storms to the mussel farming industry off the south-west Cork and south Kerry coastline; and the financial aid which he will allocate towards alleviating the serious financial loss to the mussel farmers in the areas concerned.

My Department have received no substantial reports of storm damage resulting in serious financial loss, to mussel farming enterprises in the areas referred to by the Deputy. I can assure the Deputy that should such reports be made they will be thoroughly investigated by officials who are monitoring the situation in the wake of recent severe weather at various locations around the coast.
