Vol. 397 No. 2

Written Answers. - County Dublin Schools.

Austin Currie

Ceist:

96 Mr. Currie asked the Minister for Education the post-primary school authorities in adjoining areas which provided her with the information referred to in her reply to Parliamentary Question No. 202 of 13 February 1990 in relation to the Castleknock area of Dublin 15; the number of places available in these schools for pupils in the Castleknock area in each year up to 1996; and if she will make a statement on the matter.

The post-primary schools in question are those in the Blanchardstown and Cabra areas. As I indicated in my reply — No. 202 — of 13 February 1990, it would neither be feasible nor appropriate to attempt a precise identification of post-primary places available by school.

Enrolment policy is primarily a matter for each school management; my Department's main responsibility is to ensure that, overall, there is adequate provision available at post-primary level.

Ceist:

97 Mr. Currie asked the Minister for Education when the final payment of moneys outstanding for over two years will be paid to St. Mochta's National School, Clonsilla, Dublin 15; and if she will make a statement on the matter.

The bulk of the grant in respect of the erection of St. Mochta's National School, Clonsilla, Dublin 15, has been paid to the school authorities. A small balance of grant had to be retained pending the making good of defects and omissions in the mechanical and electrical installations.

The question of the payment of this money is being considered and the Department will contact the school authorities in the matter at an early date.
