Vol. 397 No. 6

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Oil Refining Distribution Cost.

Richard Bruton

Ceist:

6 Mr. R. Bruton asked the Minister for Energy whether he has made returns on the costs of oil refining distribution in Ireland in accordance with Council Directives 76/491/EC; and whether Irish costs are in line with the EC average.

The Deputy is referring to the "Net Sales Proceeds" return which is submitted to the EC in accordance with Council Directive 76/491/EC.

As I detailed in a response to the Deputy to a similar question on 7 December, 1989, certain difficulties arose with regard to this return in recent years. Meetings held between my Department and the oil companies concerned as well as the CII have resolved most of these problems and I understand that returns of net sales proceeds in respect of 1988 and 1989 are in the course of preparation by the oil companies. These returns should be finalised shortly.

I thank the Minister for the action he has taken. I have no further questions.
