Vol. 398 No. 1

Written Answers. - Death Certificate.

Ned O'Keeffe

Ceist:

170 Mr. E. O'Keeffe asked the Minister for Health if he will make arrangements to issue a death certificate in respect of a person (details supplied) in County Cork who died in 1916; if he will clarify where such a certificate can be obtained; and if he will give the present position in this regard.

The administration of the registration system is a matter for the Registrar General of Births and Deaths and for local registrars who operate under his general direction.

I am informed by the Registrar-General that no entry in the register of deaths corresponds to the details supplied by the Deputy. At this stage the registration of a death which occurred in 1916 would require the authority of the Registrar-General and anyone interested in proceeding with registration in this case should apply either to the Registration Office at 18 Liberty Street, Cork or to the General Register Office, Joyce House, 8/11 Lombard Street East, Dublin 2.
