Ceist:

221 Mr. J. Bruton asked the Minister for Education the proportion of handicapped children in the Irish education system who are integrated in the normal school system.

The table below shows the approximate enrolment of pupils attending the different categories of special schools for the handicapped as well as the approximate enrolment of children attending special classes, for mildly and moderately mentally handicapped pupils, in ordinary mainstream schools. Details are not available of the numbers of handicapped pupils fully integrated into ordinary mainstream classes.
