Ireland and Romania have recently agreed to establish diplomatic relations on a non-resident basis and to exchange ambassadors. An announcement will be made in due course regarding concurrent accreditation arrangements.
Possibilities for the extension of our network of diplomatic relations are kept under examination in the light of our national and international interests and the availability of the necessary resources. Decisions to establish relations and to exchange diplomatic representatives are announced in consultation with the other Government or Governments concerned.
