Vol. 398 No. 1

Written Answers. - Tax on Pension.

John V. Farrelly

Ceist:

90 Mr. Farrelly asked the Minister for Finance the reason a person (details supplied) in County Meath has to pay tax on her pension as she is repaying a housing loan from Meath County Council; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

I have been advised by the Revenue Commissioners that the latest return of income submitted by the taxpayer was in respect of the year ended 5 April, 1989. No claim was made for interest relief in this return. The inspector of taxes has written to the taxpayer for the information necessary to review her tax position.
