Written Answers. - Re-engagement of Former State Employees.

Ceist:

114 Mr. Barry asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food if, since 1989, any former State employees have been engaged, either permanently or on contract, by his Department; and if so, if he will give (i) their names, (ii) the terms of their employment or contract, (ii) the salary being paid to them and (iv) the pension, if any, payable to them from the State.

Thirteen veterinary inspectors have been engaged on occasion as part time temporary veterinary inspectors on meat hygiene and portal duties. They are engaged on a fee basis, currently £76.23 per day, and are called upon as and when required. The range of fees paid to these employees for the period 01.01.89 to date is £2,086 — £14,249.60 and their pensions per annum range from £5,363.36—£16,934.89.
