24 Tomás Mac Giolla asked the Minister for Foreign Affairs if he will outline the arrangements being made by the Government to honour Mr. Nelson Mandela when he visits Ireland in July; and if he will make a statement on the matter.
The Government are very pleased that Mr. Nelson Mandela has accepted the Taoiseach's invitation to visit Ireland in July and we look forward to making his stay with us a memorable one. As far as the programme for his visit is concerned, this is currently under consideration. However, as the Deputy will appreciate, it would be preferable not to announce the details of such a programme until they have been agreed between the parties concerned.
