Vol. 398 No. 5

Written Answers. - Tourist Guides at Clonmacnoise.

Brian Cowen

Ceist:

50 Mr. Cowen asked the Minister for Finance the present position regarding employment of tourist guides this year at Clonmacnoise with particular reference to a person (details supplied) in County Offaly.

The recruitment of guide/ information officers at Clonmacnoise for the 1990 summer season has been carried out in accordance with standard procedure. Advertisements were placed in the press earlier this year inviting interested persons to submit applications following which interviews were held. Panels of applicants suitable for employment were formed on the basis of the interview results and offers of employment were subsequently made.

It is not the practice to disclose the results of a particular person's application to any person other than the applicant. If the person referred to by the Deputy contacts the Commissioners of Public Works, the commissioners will inform that person of the result of their interview.
