Vol. 398 No. 6

Written Answers. - Redundancy Payments.

Liam Aylward

Ceist:

52 Mr. Aylward asked the Minister for Labour the outcome of the appeal of a person (details supplied) in County Kilkenny against his dismissal under the Minimum Notice and Terms of Employment Acts, 1973 and 1984 and the Unfair Dismissals Act, 1977; and whether redundancy payments can be made to this person in view of the circumstances.

The employee's appeal was heard by the Employment Appeals Tribunal on 7 December 1989 and a resumed hearing will be held on 30 May 1990. The appeals which the employee is pursuing are under the Unfair Dismissals Act, 1977, and the Minimum Notice and Terms of Employment Act, 1973 in the first instance.

Tony Gregory

Ceist:

53 Mr. Gregory asked the Minister for Labour, arising out of his reply to Parliamentary Question No. 72 of 29 March 1990 concerning redundancy entitlements, if the promised information and forms have been sent to the person concerned.

The material was sent to the person concerned on 4 May. That material consisted of information concerning redundancy and holiday pay entitlements, together with the guide to the redundancy payments scheme and relevant forms.

I regret that there was some delay in writing to the person concerned. The delay was caused, to some extent at least, by a backlog of work following an industrial dispute in my Department which has now been resolved.
