Vol. 398 No. 8

Written Answers. - Grant Payments.

Theresa Ahearn

Ceist:

107 Mrs. T. Ahearn asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food when a reactor subsidy will be paid to a person (details supplied) in County Tipperary; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

Payment of the reactor grant to the person named will be made within the next two weeks. The delay in payment is due to problems associated with the amalgamation of two herd numbers.

Austin Deasy

Ceist:

108 Mr. Deasy asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food the reason for the delay in payment of (1) a beef premium, (2) a headage grant and (3) a suckler cow and calf subsidy to a person (details supplied) in County Waterford; the date on which applications were received; the date of inspection; and when payment of same will issue.

Payments to this applicant under the special beef premium, cattle and equines headage, suckler cow premium and calf premium schemes are being processed and will issue shortly.

The applications under the above schemes were received in the local office of my Department on 19 July 1989 and inspection of the herd took place on 5 October 1989. The reason for the delay in these and other payments were the late issue of applications following a High Court case last year and a policy of non-co-operation by some unions at the end of the year. Payments are now back to normal however.
