Ceist:

120 Mr. Nealon asked the Minister for Justice if he will outline in respect of his Department (a) the number of special advisers (other than career civil servants) appointed, (b) their names, (c) their remuneration and (d) whether the appointments are on a full or part-time basis.

One special adviser, Mr. Tony Lambert, is employed in my Department to advise me solely on constituency matters. He is employed under contract on a full-time basis on an annual salary of £19,999 on a scale rising to £22,862 per annum.

Also, two special legal advisers have been employed, under contract, in my Department on a part-time daily fee basis, one for five years and another for 17 years.
