Vol. 398 No. 8

Written Answers. - Tax Rebates.

Ned O'Keeffe

Ceist:

65 Mr. E. O'Keeffe asked the Minister for Finance the reason a tax rebate has not been made to a person (details supplied) in County Cork.

I have been advised by the Revenue Commissioners that it is not possible to establish if a rebate is due to the taxpayer until additional information is supplied. The inspector of taxes wrote to the taxpayer on 5 April 1989 requesting this information. A further request was made via the Deputy on 20 July 1989, but the information is still outstanding.

Paul McGrath

Ceist:

66 Mr. McGrath asked the Minister for Finance when a tax rebate for the year 1985-86 will be made to a person (details supplied) in County Westmeath.

I have been advised by the Revenue Commissioners that the taxpayers liability to tax for the tax year 1985-86 was finalised by the inspector of taxes on 18 March 1987. An overpayment of £2 resulted and this was retained for offsetting against outstanding liability.
