17 Mr. Harte asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food if he will make a statement on the report that bovine TB outbreaks occurred in County Donegal last year; and the action he proposes to take to help his Department's officials and farmers in Donegal to combat successfully the outbreak.
I am advised by the director of ERAD that there was an increase in the incidence of TB in County Donegal in 1989. Particular attention is being devoted to all such problem areas during the current round of testing. ERAD's disease eradication programme is specially designed to ensure that all high risk and black spot areas are tested as early as possible in the round. An intensive programme of special check testing has also been put in place.
