Vol. 398 No. 10
188 Mr. J. Bruton asked the Minister for the Environment if he has received any proposals from Meath County Council for housing, water, sewerage or road schemes; and if so, when they were submitted and their purport.
I would refer the Deputy to the reply to Question No. 101 of 14 February 1990, in relation to local authority housing. Since then formal proposals for the provision of four houses at Navan have been received in my Department.
The submission of additional reports and documentation from the county council is awaited in relation to a number of water and sewerage schemes. Tenders from the Kells-Oldcastle water supply scheme were received in my Department on 6 February 1990 and approved on 13 March 1990. Contract documents for the East Meath regional water supply scheme were received on 20 June 1988 and approved on 15 February 1990. Both of these schemes will provide a guaranteed supply of good quality water to their respective areas and are intended to go to construction in the current year.
Details of the road grants available for payment to Meath County Council in 1990 are set out in the following table.
Draft contract documents for item 1 (b) were received in my Department on 21 May 1990 and are presently being considered. Items 1 (c), 1 (d), 1 (f) and 1 (g) are ongoing schemes which were approved in previous years. Item 3 (b) does not require the submission of documentation. Proposals for expenditure of the remaining grants are awaited from the local authority.
