Vol. 398 No. 10

Written Answers. - Prefabricated Classrooms.

John Bruton

Ceist:

214 Mr. J. Bruton asked the Minister for Education if she will outline the national schools in County Meath where prefabricated classrooms are in use; the age of the prefabricated buildings in question; and the identity of the schools where the plans to replace the prefabricated classrooms with permanent accommodation have not passed the stage of completion of working drawings.

The detailed information requested by the Deputy is not readily available in my Department. Its compilation would necessitate an inordinate amount of staff time which would not be warranted having regard to the large volume of more urgent work in my Department.

However, if the Deputy was interested in any particular school he could contact my office who would be very pleased to provide the particular information required.

John Bruton

Ceist:

215 Mr. J. Bruton asked the Minister for Education the length of time prefabricated classrooms have been in use at St. Patrick's classical school, Navan, County Meath.

The Department's records indicate that a three prefabricated classroom unit and cloaks/toilets were grant aided in 1975 in respect of St. Patrick's classical school, Navan.

John Bruton

Ceist:

216 Mr. J. Bruton asked the Minister for Education if all the prefabricated classrooms which were in use at the following schools in County Meath from the following dates have now been replaced by permanent classrooms: (a) Carnaross, 1976, (b) Rathbeggan, 1964, (c) Kilteale, 1973, (d) Batterstown, 1967, (e) Rathfeigh, 1974, (f) Slane, 1966, (g) Dangan, 1973, (h) Whitecross, 1967 and (i) Skryne, 1974.

All the prefabricated classrooms referred to by the Deputy have been replaced by permanent accommodation with the exception of those at Rathfeigh national school and Skryne national school.
