Vol. 398 No. 10

Written Answers. - Access Facilities for Disabled Persons.

John Bruton

Ceist:

213 Mr. J. Bruton asked the Minister for Education if she will outline, in respect of each State body for which she is statutorily responsible, the public buildings where easy access facilities such as ramps, lifts or otherwise for persons using wheelchairs do not exist; the services provided in the buildings; and the plans to improve accessibility thereto.

It has been the Department's policy for many years to provide for access by the handicapped in all new school buildings and extensions. The Department have also provided such facilities as are necessary in existing buildings where the need for that provision has been established.
