Ceist:218 Mr. Deenihan asked the Minister for Education when a decision will be made on holiday pay for part-time teachers in community schools on a pro-rata basis; and when teachers will be notified of their entitlements.

A scheme of pro-rata pay, including holiday pay, and conditions for eligible part-time teachers in second level schools was agreed in late 1989.
Applications for consideration under the terms of this scheme have been submitted and are currently being processed. There are 85 eligible part-time teachers in the community and comprehensive school sector already in receipt of salary from the Department under the terms of the scheme.
It is hoped to have the remainder of the claims processed within the next few weeks.
