Vol. 398 No. 10

Written Answers. - New Dublin School Proposal.

Michael Barrett

Ceist:

228 Mr. M. Barrett asked the Minister for Education the present position regarding a submission made to her to have a new school built at St. Aidan's, Whitehall, Dublin 9, by the principal and members of the parents committee, when she received a deputation in Dáil Éireann in February 1989 and in March 1990; if discussions between her officials and the members of the Christian Brothers Order are now complete; and if she will make a statement on the matter.

A building project for this school is at an early stage of architectural planning. As with all such building projects especially those in urban areas my Department is reviewing the project for this school. Any decision in relation to this building project will be taken by me in the light of my Department's review at the earliest opportunity

Discussions on St. Aidan's between officials of my Department and representatives of the Christian Brothers Order have been held on a number of occasions, the most recent being held yesterday, Monday, 21 May. I anticipate an early outcome of these discussions.
