Vol. 398 No. 10
61 Mr. Hogan asked the Taoiseach when the allocation from the national lottery of £50,000 will be paid for the purpose of erecting a new theatre for the City of Kilkenny; and if he will make a statement on the matter.
Fifty thousand pounds was allocated in November 1987 for the conversion of a cinema in Kilkenny into a theatre, at an estimated cost of £0.25 million. The initial proposal has since been revised substantially and the project is now estimated to cost £0.75 million. The question of a grant from the European Regional Development Fund is now being examined in view of the increased cost.
Once the entire financing is in place and Kilkenny Corporation is in a position to invite tenders, a schedule of payover of the grant of £50,000 from the national lottery will be agreed. Grants are generally paid over on a proportionate basis in relation to actual work being carried out.
