Vol. 398 No. 10

Written Answers. - Archaeological Excavations.

John Bruton

Ceist:

88 Mr. J. Bruton asked the Minister for Finance if all the statutory reports under the National Monuments Acts on the licensed archaeological excavations at St. Mels Church, Ardagh, County Longford in 1967 and at Leigh, County Tipperary in 1968 have yet been furnished; and, if not, the action taken.

Reports on these excavations, which are required to be furnished to the Commissioners of Public Works have been received.

John Bruton

Ceist:

89 Mr. J. Bruton asked the Minister for Finance if all the statutory reports under the National Monuments Acts have yet been lodged on the archaeological excavations carried out by the Office of Public Works at Dublin Castle in 1961-62; and if a report of these excavations has been published.

This excavation was carried out by an archaeologist then employed in the Office of Public Works and a summary report is available in that office. Efforts are continuing to have the definitive report prepared by the archaeologist concerned published.
