Vol. 399 No. 1

Written Answers. - Dental Treatment Expenditure.

Ivan Yates

Ceist:

91 Mr. Yates asked the Minister for Health the number of adults who will receive dental treatment this year by health boards arising out of the additional allocation to the service; and if he will give a breakdown on the basis of the planned expenditure.

It is estimated that at least 20,000 adults will receive dental treatment in 1990 from the additional allocation for dental services made in the budget. The health boards have been advised of their initial allocation from the total allocation of £2.2 million.

The breakdown of the initial allocation is as follows:

Health Board

£000

Eastern

134

Midland

50

Mid-Western

100

North-Eastern

68

North-Western

67

South-Eastern

97

Southern

120

Western

102

It is intended that this amount will cover the period to 30 June 1990. Following consideration of the results achieved by the health boards from the expenditure of this allocation, a further allocation will be made to each health board to cover the remainder of 1990.
